Snow Angels

Original Sketch
This is the original sketch that got me started.
A group of my friends are planning on attending a convention in April next year as Snow Angels.
Each of us will be different yet but still revolve around the theme of winter and snow (with wings of course).

A while back I tried to make a croquis based off of my actual figure since most croquis can make any outfit look good.
I needed a honest croquis that would help me design costumes that I could be happy with.
This sketch was from using this croquis. Unfortunately it turns out it actually isn't very accurate.
Still it gives me a better idea of how said costume will look on my figure than the original sketch will.

This is my first attempt at water color pencils, I defintely need more practice and should not be using them in my sketch book
* *note the rippled paper but it was fun and I enjoyed it
I wanted to get a better idea of my color theme.
I'd like to have a heavy satin that is a gradient from a deep dark blue to a icy blue then white at the very end.
I'd love to find this to purchase but I've afraid I'm going to have to learn how to dye fabric like this and won't that be an adventure!
I want to attach crystals in the shape of snowflakes, I was going to do this on an over lay of a sheer shimmery chiffon but I don't know if that overkill with the gradient.
I'd like to do the train and bustle in the same fabric as the skirt but keep it in the deep blue

Head and shoulders
I'd like to make a wig out of wool felted dreads in a gradient to match the skirt and sleeves.
Sewn into these "dreads" will be the occaisional snowflake bead and crystal. I may braid in some tinsel if its not too much.

Wings
This sketch isn't quite right, but its all I have right now.
My wings would be also out of wool felt almost like the dreads.
Undetermined on color, thinking white, icy blue maybe the base a dark blue to blend into the dress.
The felt will have a wire skeleton body.
The wings will spread out like branches and will have tinsel sewn into them to drape down.
Not a single "branch" would be bare. Not sure how this would attach to the dress yet.

Crystals on purse
Link goes to the purse if you're interested in seeing it.
Just a small example of the crystals put on with the Kandi Kane applicator wand.
I put the crystals on almost a month ago and only two have fallen off, both fell off within the first week.
One I expected to fall off because I had trouble putting it on and the second one was from me fiddling with it.

Just an example of the gradient idea I had for the skirt but in reverse.
Color idea

Okay design change! Now I'm making this for the skirt in Cloud Shine Sport yarn with size 6/0 seed beads.
